Pole dance, Lap dance, Burlesque, and etc. still have quite the stigma surrounding them. Once you get past that, down to the chewy caramel center, you’ll find this is more than just a form of entertainment for the masses of men and women in clubs…..you’ll realize:
This is a workout that will always keep you interested and consistently challenge you.
This is something that will not only workout your body but work out your mind and build your confidence in your daily life.
This is the workout that will seem more like a treat with its girls night out charms.
This is the Queen of all workouts!
This calorie burner will have you sweating in no time and you’ll be building muscle and strength you never thought you could have or have back.
The bonus to to the workout is you can take it home for that special someone ;)
Mention to your Joe Average that you pole dance, and 9 times out of 10, they will think you’re “The Whore of Babylon”with headquarters at Spearmint Rhino. Sometimes, one has to wonder how mainstream pole dancing really is. It might have infiltrated the gyms, but that does not mean it’s any less spectacular or gossip worthy. Every time I teach PD at my local gym, it’s like a showing of the three headed, previously thought extinct sabre tooth tiger. There’s rarely a lesson that goes by without at least 5 faces (by this, I mean men) ogling my class through the studio window in utter amazement. I’m not sure what they think they’re going to see – naked women, high heels, cash stuffed down garters…. baby tigers.
Pole dancing is hard, sweaty work. Its nature is anaerobic, and it’s high impact – it burns fat like a raging monkey and it tones muscles – especially the upper body (lats, shoulders, rhomboids) and core stability thingies like tummy muscles, muffin tops, bingo wings etc. It’s definitely sexy – but then, what dance is not sexy? Even Riverdance – that fiery, energetic hopping from Ireland had us going back in the 90s. The truth is, dance is sensual. That is the nature of this sizzling beast. Burlesque, hip hop, foxtrot, ice skating – most forms of dance that require solo or partnered performance is beautiful and captivating to watch. Dance offers escapism to the dancer and is voyeuristic to the watcher. Maybe the truth is simply that we have a fertile imagination – that when we see something so beautiful and which requires skill – we just can’t help but admire it on a sensual and aesthetical level.
Perhaps I’m being unfair – after all, men can’t help bonding over beers and breasts, and add a pole to that scenario, and you have man heaven. But let’s put things in to perspective here – pole dancing and strip/cabaret clubs are two different things – one is a class designed for fun, fitness and finesse, and the other usually involves bouncing bootilicious bosoms and bums and not much else. Are all pole dancers strippers? Well if we were, you’d better watch out… dedication, beauty, skill and coordination are usually the traits of assassins……
