Getting ready to kick off our Pole Tease classes tonight starting in our Kenosha location! These are an introduction into Pole Dance classes!
We just had a huge deal with Living Social and Groupon for these classes and the response has been overwhelming. I’m super excited to have the opportunity to teach all these new ladies! I’m hoping they get the same feeling of confidence, beauty, and strength out of these classes that I got.
I’m so excited I’ve started a count down for the hours!
If the client is an experienced pole dancer, I would say they could invert until they personally feel that the bump is too big, back is aching or just lack the energy to perform the move. Via polefitfanatics.com

The history of Miss Pole starts in early 2005. Allow me to set the scene… I’m late for work because I can’t fit into my pants. I can’t fit into my pants because I have two small children. Those two small children are hungry and need to eat breakfast. They can’t eat breakfast because I can’t find my homework. I can’t find my homework because I didn’t actually do it. My life is out of control and a little root-cause analysis tells me that it’s those damn pants. Corrective action is obviously the next logical step. I get to work and immediately Google ‘fun exercise’. The search results would forever change my life. No, I’m not being dramatic… okay, maybe a little dramatic.
The results pointed me to a small local gym offering pole classes one night a week. I was apprehensive. I was nervous. I was embarrassed. And to top it off I was going to be late. A few weeks of class go by and things start to change. It’s not my body yet because the pants still don’t fit. But my walk is different. My interactions are different. The way I put away groceries is different. Then it hits me - I feel STRONG and CONFIDENT and SEXY!
Are these feelings a direct result of pole dancing? At this point, I’m getting my MBA and I know there are far too many variables to make a conclusion. For my Thesis I decide to do a multiple regression to determine which variable, using Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and pole dancing, was the best predictor of MY emotional happiness and security. You know what I found out? NOTHING! I didn’t know exactly what it was about pole dancing that made me feel strong or confident or sexy. I didn’t know why it helped me develop strong and supportive bonds with other women. I just knew that every woman should have an opportunity to experience what I felt.
With my lifelong savings of $1912.18, I opened Miss Pole. My objective then was the same as it is today. I am committed to inspiring ALL women to feel confident, sexy and strong! The difference now is that I don’t need multiple regression to tell me what makes women accept and appreciate their bodies. I get to see these transformations every single day!
Come out and play with us on our 2 free standing poles! We will be teaching a trick or 2 to the lucky ladies that come out. Bring your friends and family and show them all the fun things you have learned in a Miss Pole class!
Play around, Learn something new, Meet new friends, and Have a Great time!
I didn’t have the chance to check our tumblr over the weekend. But I would like to say THANK YOU to all of our followers! You guys are helping to spread the art and strength of pole dance. I hope to see those of you who live near one of our 3 locations in a class soon!
We have a ton of workshops coming up that we would love to see you at!!!
It seems to me that for some beginners, one of the biggest draws to pole dancing is also its biggest deterrent for others: the sexiness. Some people get excited about it while others insist that they’re “not like that.” (I’m not sure, but I think “like that” refers to a regular on “Girls Gone Wild” or something.) Of course, both sides would benefit from simply trying out a beginner’s pole class for themselves and seeing that the sport is very much what you, personally, want it to be.
Yeah, pole dancing can be sexy, and often is. But it doesn’t have to be. We see this in traditional Indian pole gymnastics, (called “Mallakhamb,”) and also in modern pole dancing here in the west where more and more pole dances are being performed as interpretive dances as the sport catches on in a wider community. Many still like to embrace the sensual side of the sport, though, because let’s face it…it feels GOOD. We feel powerful and desirable and in touch with our bodies, and it’s FUN.
But sexiness itself is not what makes pole dancing great. If you show up to a pole class for the first time thinking of nothing but wanting to feel sexy, you’re going to walk away disappointed. Why? Because somewhere between the grunting, the sweating, and the hanging on for dear life as you try to do your first chair hold, it is going to occur to you that this does not look particularly sexy yet. Which will have you feeling like your goal for this class has not been accomplished. Cue frustration. And yet, people say all the time that pole dancing makes them feel sexy. How does that work?
It works because “sexy” is the byproduct. What you’re actually working on in pole class, (aside from strength, flexibility, and coordination,) is confidence. “Sexy” comes later, often right on the heels of “confident.” But it’s definitely confidence that comes first.
Now, this may not make much sense at first. You’re still grunting, sweating, and hanging on for dear life…so what about these things inspires confidence when it doesn’t necessarily inspire sexiness? What is it about pole dancing that makes it such a strong confidence-builder? Here’s the thing: when you’re starting out in pole, (like levels 1 and maybe 2,) about 80% of your success ultimately boils down to trusting yourself to just hang on and go for it. And trusting yourself is the ultimate key to confidence. That, combined with the gleeful rush of your first real spin, is what gives you the drive to keep coming back and trying again, which is what makes you get better at it. Which gives you even more confidence to go for bigger, better things, or to really refine the essentials until they’re smooth as silk. And that confidence — the confidence to be bold, to make mistakes, to fix them, to learn, to try, to get excited, and to let someone else see you shine — is where the sexiness begins.
So here’s a new mindset: take this class because it feels FUN. Because deep inside you, there’s a six year old who wants to jump out of the car every time you drive past a playground. Or a teenager who wants to skip out of the daily grind and go dancing. Or because you’ve always wished you could fly. Or because you want to feel sexy, AND you feel those other things too. Give it a try for reasons that are distinctly YOU, and trust yourself. Trust your hands to hold on. Trust that you can pick your feet up off the floor and not fall. Trust that you can fall and get back up. Trust that you can laugh while you’re doing it. This is PLAYTIME, and playtime is what you make of it.
So one of the questions I have asked in the past of my blog interviewees is what they think about the “stripper vs. pole fitness debate.” It is clear that some people are very comfortable with pole dancing being associated with stripping and/or their sexuality (and sensuality?? I think I need to do a little soul searching to make sure I truly understand the difference between those words!!). Via lolorashel.blogspot.com

In an ever-changing workout and fitness scene, exotic dance exercise and weight loss programs have become more mainstream. Once a secret art, striptease moves and pole dancing classes are now offered by fitness clubs, via workout videos and in dance studios across the United States. It’s easy to see why primarily women flock to try exotic dance programs. They offer a moderately intense cardiovascular and muscular workout while making women feel sensual and desirable.
Types and Methods
You’ll find a variety of classes and options when it comes to using exotic dance techniques for fitness. If you prefer classes, a number of gyms and fitness centers offer pole dancing classes for women only as well as exotic dance classes that may include sessions on lap dances and various dance techniques. If you prefer exercising in the privacy of your home, exotic dance workout DVDs like Carmen Electra’s Aerobic Striptease, Flirty Girl Fitness and The Goddess Workout are all available through fitness retailers and sometimes at your local library.
If you have trouble staying focused in a regular aerobics class, an exotic dance workout may be more engaging and interesting. Often they are set to urban music and are more like dance classes than traditional aerobics classes. An hour of low impact dancing can burn up to 200 calories for a 150-lb. individual. Pole dancing specifically can offer a moderate upper body strength workout. Since the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggest that adults get at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day, exotic dance workouts can help you fulfill that requirement.
An exotic dance workout and weight loss program will only be as effective as you make it. Don’t expect an exotic dancer’s body simply from attending classes a few days each week or following a DVD at home. Weight loss occurs as a result of healthy eating, cardiovascular activity and muscular strength. Without all three components, you may not achieve the weight loss success that you’d hope for. While exotic dance classes can help burn calories, you may still need additional high impact cardiovascular exercise and strength training to build muscle and burn calories.
It’s natural to feel shy about joining an exotic dance-based workout class. You may feel uncoordinated or uncomfortable about showing your sensuality. Test the waters by using a DVD in order to familiarize yourself with the general dance moves and technique for exotic dance. As you become more comfortable with the practice, try joining a class. Classes at gyms may have equipment such as poles to enhance your workout to burn more calories and build more muscle.
